The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) report, shows more than half of Great Britain is considering to take up the licence to search for onshore oil and gas. This means that once it’s fully finalised then more than half of UK will be a “fracking” site.
The most effected regions will be north and south of England, and parts of London. Furthermore the most affected areas will be the coastal areas, up North, in the West Midlands and the South of England from the look of this map.
Many campaigning groups such as ‘Frack Off’ are protesting to have all this stopped before the licence is signed and sealed. Parts of London are also seeking for the license, however, the first affected areas will be the rural parts of UK as they have more potential of having vast amounts of onshore oil and gas than the capital would.
